Hey everyone! I finally arrived in Atlanta yesterday. After a LONG 30hr drive, I am here! I already have a good story of how I got lost.
When I came into Atlanta, I had to figure out how to get to my (yes MY) apartment. I started out on I-20 and I had to get to the I-75/85 interchange, which was the only easy part. After getting onto I-75/85, I realized that I came into Atlanta…at five o'clock rush hour…on a Friday…during Christmas shopping. I is so smrts! It is a 7-lane highway and I was in stop and go traffic. Really? After I-75 separated from I-85, taking 3 of the lanes with it, I was getting closer to get to my home. I called my brother for directions and he told me the exit I needed to take, but he was a bit tipsy. Big mistake. I thought I had taken the wrong exit so I gave him a call and asked him where I was: he had no clue so he had me get back on the freeway. So, I get off at a different exit, which was the one I needed to take in the first place, and I needed to make a left turn. So I get in the far left hand lane to make the turn…and it's a U-turn only lane. We don't have U-turn only lanes in Tucson…or Arizona for that matter. So…I'm on the freeway…going the wrong way…on a 4-lane highway…during rush hour traffic. I rock at navigating by the way. So…finally I found my way to the apartment, and I will post some pictures tomorrow.
Not much to say about culinary tonight. There are a lot of restaurants opening up within 5 minutes of my apartment, and I live about 10 minutes from downtown Atlanta…so there's a lot to do. I have a "meet-n'-greet" with my school on Tuesday; that will give me a chance to find my way to Tucker and to my school. With my great sense of navigation, I don't think it will be a problem. Ha. My brother's mother-in-law is such an amazing cook. Like super amazing. I want to spend a weekend with her and just be like, "teach me everything you know". I know she wouldn't mind but I don't know about that. I can't wait to get this school thing started. Start doing something I love. Start enjoying work. You know?
I'll leave you with this. You imprint your personality on everything you cook. Whether it be hamburger helper or even fois gras with caramelized broccoli and garlic. You need to put your heart and soul into everything you cook; so even when it tastes horrible, you know you tried your best!
Here's a recipe for you. Something everyone should know how to make!
French Toast: The best recipe I have found so far!
HAHAHA. Poor Nick.
ReplyDeleteSo, was someone driving with you in the passenger seat or were you just leaning over the seat to take pictures like a weirdo?
:)
LOVE YOU, BUDDY.
